Common faults on driver needed cameras

Q1:The color of video preview image is abnormal.
A: For common cameras, manual white is needed. But for camera lens, the system can perform auto-white function to correct and balance it automatically.

Q2:FIF0Warning appears when using camera.
A: Check the installation of driver and possible device confliction first, then check if the model of camera matches with the driver. Change another graphics card for testing, as the camera may be not compatible with graphics card or driver. This fault may be resulted from incorrect installation of driver. If this problem can’t be removed through the upgrading to the driver of the said graphics cad, you shall replace the graphics card. 

Q3:The camera comes white screen or blank screen after image frame appears when using AMCAP. How to settle this fault?
A: Steps for troubleshooting: please refer to attentions in manual for changing setting.
Note: This fault is quite troublesome, which needs several trying. The causes may be that the “Preview” in “Option” menu isn’t opened, please double-click and wait for 15 seconds.

Q4:VGA image breaks when the camera is connected to low-end PCs.
A:In this configuration, USB in PC couldn’t support this great digital. The digitals transmitted by USB shall be compressed, which causes the system couldn’t show images in time. Please refer to methods below for reducing and removing this fault: 
1. Choose graphics cad supporting DirectX (it must support the hardware acceleration of RGB24 and I420)
2. Choose I420 format
3. Use CPU with higher frequency

Q5: The camera works abnormally when it’s connected to laptop.
Fault phenomenon: The camera, which works normally when it’s connected to trademark desktop originally, couldn’t work normally when it’s connected to laptop. Is there any device confliction between it and laptop? There isn’t any yellow symbol in “Device Manager”:
Troubleshooting: Attempt to reduce the speed of graphics card
Steps: Right-click on the desktop and select “Property”, “Setup”, “Advanced”, “FAQ” to reduce hardware acceleration from level 4 to the last level and check if the fault can be removed. If yes, increase the level and find out the proper level to remove this fault.
Note: Camera can conflict with graphics card very easily. Once fault appears, please check graphics card besides camera.

Q6: The image displays too slowly when the camera is used in the Internet.
A: This is because that the website speed is slow or ISP bandwidth is narrow. You can try to change another website or use another ISP account for logging in the Internet.

Q7: The image displays too slowly when the new-bought camera is connected to the computer and used in Internet, and the display is also slow even when dial-up place and ISP are changed. Furthermore, the image still displays slowly even if the camera isn’t used in Internet. 
A: This is caused by poor performance of computer, so you can change another graphics accelerator. If it is still of no use, you shall upgrade CPU and main board.

Q8: The seller told me that the camera could reach 30 frames per second when I bought it. However, I found it couldn’t reach this high speed. Strangely, it shows it really can reach this speed in the manual. Don’t I use it correctly? 
Many people have misunderstanding over this issue. Actually, there is some difference between video sampling speed manufacturers provided and software playing speed in VCD. The unit manufacturers provided is CIF, which can be considered as an alias of fixed resolution. CIF equals to 352x288 resolution, and the camera could 30 frames/second under this ideal resolution condition. Other alias includes OSIF: 160x120 resolution, QCIF: 176x144 resolution, SIF: 320x240 and VGA: 640x480. As far as actual speed is concerned, the camera can amount to 30fps under QSIF, QCIF condition, 20 26fps under SIF, CIF condition and 10fps under VGA condition, which are normal. 

Q9:Why is the display frequency is faster under WIN2K/XP operating system compared to WIN98 operating system?
A:WDN driver is developed based on IN. Under WIN98 operating system, WDM driver shall transmit messages to DOS operating system through NTKernel.vxd, which delays the display frequency of camera. However, the latter is developed based on NI structure, which doesn’t need this conversion. Because of this, once under WIN98 operating system and Capture is started, the lower part of image may break or occur FIF0Warning when the camera is capturing VGA image.

Q10: Why does the frame rate decrease during video streaming recording?
A:PC performs three tasks during recording:
1. Fetch digitals from USB and decompress.
2. Display it on display screen
3.  Save video images to hardware
Ways to reduce and remove this issue:
1. Use ways described in Q10.
2. Change resolution and reduce to SIF or even smaller
3. Open DMA storage mode of hardware.
4. Replace old file with a new to reduce the erase/write time.
A:VIDCAP uses VFW system structure, but AMCAP uses DIRECTSHOW system structure. VFW was created in 1992 and has tens’ history. Under this system structure, the image is copied from one buffer to another buffer when video streaming is opened. However, CRIECTSHOW system structure can transmit images via pointer, which can increase the frequency of capturing video.

Q11: Why is the capture speed slower when VIDCAP32 is used to capture AVI, compared with AMCAP?
A:VIDCAP uses VFW system structure, but AMCAP uses DIRECTSHOW system structure. VFW was created in 1992 and has tens’ history. Under this system structure, the image is copied from one buffer to another buffer when video streaming is opened. However, CRIECTSHOW system structure can transmit images via pointer, which can increase the frequency of capturing video.

Q12: Why is the AVI file so large captured by Am cap or VIDCAP32 software?
A:640*480*24*15(fps)=13.18M(byte)

Q13: Is it possible to offer driver for MAC and Linux system?
A:At present, the company hasn’t developed MAC driver, NRE fee (USD$50,000) is needed for the development.

Q14: Camera can’t be detected.
A: Check operating system, BIOS, USB interface and find out any incorrect installation.  
Steps for troubleshooting: Windows 95 doesn’t support USB interface. You shall update it to Windows 98 which supports USB interface. Check BIOS Setup and make USB device valid.
 If the methods above are of no use, please attempt to connect USB of camera to the second USB interface.
 If you install incorrect driver or select fault device, please follow steps below to review system device and reinstall correct driver: double-click “System” icon in control panel, select “Device Manager” tag in dialogue box in System Properties and double-click “Other devices” to review contents. Select “Unknown Device” and click “Remove” button, then click “Refresh”, the system will find a new device and follow installation steps to install camera driver. Note: This is a complicated problem, which needs several attempts. Please be a little patient for troubleshooting. 

Q15: How to clean the camera lens once it is dirty?
Note: It’s quite unnecessary to clean the lens. If necessary, please use dry and non-flax cloth or professional lens paper to clean. Don’t press the lens during cleaning. Breathe out over the lens slightly and avoid scratching lens.

Q16:Is it available to take camera outside for using?
Note: The camera lenses aren’t designed for outdoor use. Please don’t expose them under outdoor condition without any protection. It can damage the lens under improper condition and humidity conditions. 

Q17:The USB interface of camera couldn’t work after the computer is recovered from sleep mode. Then, how can we deal with?
Troubleshooting: You can try to pull camera out of the USB interface, and insert again.

Q18: I followed the manual to install the driver, “USBVM303.SYS file needed” message appeared after reboot. However, I didn’t find this file after searching in the disk.
Analysis and disposal: please go to the directory below to search for this file: C:\Program Files\Vimicro\VM303B\Driver AutoInstall\Driver Files。

Q19: Why didn’t the video play in my computer after recording, my player supports AV1 file.
Analysis and disposal: This fault is because that you didn’t define correct suffix name for the files you recorded. You shall make sure to enter full suffix name (e.g.: 1.AVI) when you are create new files. Of course, you can also follow manual to record files correctly.

Q20 :I installed IV driver and plugged in USB, it went wrong when it was performing automatic searching for new hardware installation procedures. I wanted to uninstall the procedure and reinstall, however, I couldn’t uninstall it?
Analysis and disposal: you shall go to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information and delete {CE3B8E96-B0AF-4871-9178-1519B58E3A93} file, then you can reinstall installation driver procedure.

Q21: Why can’t I use mouse to grab images when the camera is used? I only can use the snap button on the top for shooting. This is quite inconvenient. 
Analysis and disposal: You can use software for shooting when using the camera, if Windows XP operating system is being used, the software is in c:\windows\vidcap32.exe. If the Win2000 operating system is being used, the software is in c:\winnt\vidcap32.exe. Of course, you can use the super shooting & video recording software in the disc for shooting, which are provided with the camera.

Q22: The driver doesn’t pass WINDOWS digital signature when it is installed. So, I didn’t install it. Then how can I deal with it? 
Analysis and disposal: As the driver changes quick and the verification time is quite long which causes the driver not to pass the Microsoft verification. We’re sorry for the inconvenience to you. Please use the camera freely as our driver won’t bring damages to your computer even if it doesn’t pass verification.  

Q23: I bought UC-35B camera, but the USB cable is only about one meter long, can I prolong it?
Analysis and disposal: The transmission distance of USB cable is restricted. Normally, the transmission signal will decrease when USB cable is two meters long. The digital transmission will be effected once you prolong the length.

Q24: Does my TV card conflict with camera? The TV card is of no use immediately once the camera is connected, and the camera is of no use once the TV card is connected?
Analysis and disposal: There isn’t conflict between TV card and camera. You can disable one of them in Device Manager when using another. You can choose the video source you required in QQ video setup when they are used in QQ.

Q25: Some parts in video preview images are too dark or too light.
Analysis and disposal: You shall resolve this problem from environment or shooting objects. For example, you can remove light source or increase objects’ brightness, then adjust brightness and contrast background.

Common faults on no-driver needed cameras

Q: How to resolve screen too light under bright light?
A: There are advanced built-in parameters adjustment chips in Topspeed no-driver needed products. When the screen is too light, have the screen face ceiling or white wall so that the camera will reduce lightness automatically, then the screen will come back to normal.

Q: Why couldn’t I use other image grabber software to grab images except “Amcap” software?
A: The image formats used in no-driver needed cameras don’t support other image grabber software except “Amcap” software. So, please use “Amcap” for shooting or grabbing images.

Q: Why are there horizontal lines in images?
A: The horizontal lines in images are caused by light refraction. You can adjust the angle and the screen will come back to normal. 

Q: The image flashes when the computer is used online
A: When the image flashes, you can adjust the angle of the camera.
